National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the many contributions, diverse cultures and history of the American Latinx community. AI4OPT’s three-year Faculty Training Program gives dense Hispanic high schools and colleges in California a chance to explore AI and data science, utilize various programming language such as Python, and study data mining, statistics, machine learning, and computer vision, to name a few.
“We finished two training program classes at Georgia Tech, and we are in the early stages of discussion about probably starting a certificate at our College in data science,” said Michael Butros, a Professor in the Mathematics department at Victor Valley College. “ Vision for the school is to start a program in data science, at least at the two year level. That could end up feeding into a four-year program down the road.”
