The AI4OPT team develops novel AI and mathematical optimizations (MO) in the energy, supply-chain, mobility, manufacturing, and computer chip space, which drives societal changes and improves the consumer products, power delivery, mobility, and transportation fields. By combining AI and MO, the AI4OPT team drives major breakthroughs and field advancements that neither AI nor MO can deliver independently, putting the AI4OPT teams on the bleeding-edge of the AI field. In this role, you will work with alongside the AI4OPT students, staff, faculty, Georgia Tech's Partnership for an Advanced Computing Environment (PACE) team, and other Georgia Tech and non-Georgia Tech personnel to develop and deploy AI and MO software applications, either computing them locally or in the cloud. You will lead and manage several high-profile software applications from start to finish, which includes the backend software design, engineering (including data analysis and manipulation), deployment, documentation, maintenance, and testing of these applications.

Georgia Tech's AI4OPT team is searching for a Systems/IT Architect Manager Sr. (backend developer) to join our team. This position is in Atlanta, Georgia; however, it is remote eligible for qualifying candidates residing in the USA (inside or outside of Georgia). Remote candidates will be required to periodically travel to Atlanta, Georgia to meet with the AI4OPT team in-person.

Job Summary

Manage and coordinate the conceptualizing, planning, designing, and implementing of complete and integrated information technology solutions on a campus-wide basis. Serve as a recognized subject matter expert in information technology architecture and related technologies. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: IT leadership and staff, user department management and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: IT leadership and staff, user department management and staff. This position will supervise: technical support staff.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Required Experience
Eight years job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

A Masters Degree and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
A Masters Degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
A Doctoral degree
 

Preferred Qualifications

Successful deployment of 2 or more backend software packages.
Using and/or programming in the following software technologies:
Software coding tools: Visual Studios Code (VScode) and GitHub.
Optimization libraries: Gurobi, CPLEX, OPL, and OR-Tools
Cloud computing software: Kubernetes, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Containers and Virtual Machines (VMs): Apptainer (previously Singularity), Docker, or Podman.
High Performance Computing (HPC) software: CUDA, MPI, OpenMP, PBS, and Slurm.

Salary Range: $106,474 - $144,804

Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Faculty at Georgia Tech

AI4OPT is hiring researchers in AI for Supply Chains at Georgia Tech at the postdoc and research faculty level. Applicants should have obtained a PhD degree and have a background in optimization or AI/ML, and applicants with inter-disciplinary and diverse expertise are encouraged to apply. Both positions require strong technical skills and coding expertise in Python, Julia, or C++.

Successful candidates will contribute to research projects that primarily focus on applying large-scale optimization and machine learning to critical applications in supply chains and manufacturing. Candidates will be part of multi-disciplinary research teams that bring together world leaders in AI and optimization from six universities to work on real problems with real data from the largest supply chains in the world. Candidates will have the opportunity to supervise students and manage projects with partners such as UPS, Ryder, Best Buy, Kinaxis, and Intel.

Successful candidates at the research faculty level will take on a larger responsibility and work directly with the AI4OPT Director to manage the overall supply chain program of the Institute. They will have additional opportunities to develop leadership skills, and will be involved in a variety of research projects. In addition to the postdoc eligibility requirements, this position requires prior leadership experience or research/industry experience after completing the PhD.

The NSF Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Institute for Advances in Optimization (AI4OPT) is seeking a talented and motivated Georgia Tech student to join our team as a Simulation Demo Developer. In this role, you'll leverage your skills to create cutting-edge simulation demos using AnyLogic, showcasing advanced transportation system analysis and data management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop dynamic simulation demos using AnyLogic to highlight the advantages of transportation system optimization.
  • Deeply understand AnyLogic simulation models and their applications in maximizing load efficiency, minimizing risks, and providing comprehensive data analysis.
