Michael Klamkin has been awarded the Herbert P. Haley Fellowship for the 2024-2025 academic year. This fellowship honors graduate students at Georgia Tech who have demonstrated significant accomplishments and outstanding academic achievements—qualities that Michael has exemplified throughout his time at the Institute.

Klamkin, an industrial engineering major at Georgia Tech, joined the energy systems group in early 2021.

His current research focuses on extending active learning to optimization proxy learning, particularly in tackling the alternating current optimal power flow (ACOPF) problem. This NP-hard optimization challenge is critical in determining the most efficient way to control power grids.
