The NSF AI Institute for Advances in Optimization (AI4OPT) hosted its highly anticipated TechFest on Nov. 14, 2024, at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center. The event brought together academic and industry leaders to explore the powerful intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and mathematical optimization.

The day featured a range of notable speakers, including Pascal Van Hentenryck, Director of AI4OPT, who kicked off the event with opening remarks. Other key speakers included Geraldo Rochocz, CTO of Radix Engineering; Russell Bent, Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory; Venkata Tirupati, Vice President of Development Operations and Grid Transformation at ERCOT; and Steve Tomlinson, Chief Information Officer at VT Industries. Somdeb Majumdar, Director of the AI Lab at Intel, and Chantal Bisson-Krol, Vice President of Machine Learning Solutions at Kinaxis, also shared their insights on the evolving landscape of AI and optimization.

The event also included a Georgia Tech Research Update from Tim Lieuwen, Interim Director of Research at Georgia Tech, who provided a glimpse into the latest research efforts at the institute and beyond.

In addition to these presentations, the event featured a student poster session and reception, offering attendees the opportunity to connect with emerging talent and explore innovative research.

TechFest 2024 showcases AI4OPT's role in advancing research and building collaborations that push the boundaries of AI and optimization, with applications across industries such as healthcare, finance, and energy. The year's event demonstrated how AI-powered optimization is transforming decision-making processes and solving complex, real-world problems.
