AI4OPT Faculty Training Program Cohort member Qing Shao of Georgia Gwinnett College led a forward-looking session titled “Preparing Faculty for the AI Future: Skills, Tools, and Applications,” highlighting the urgent need for educators across disciplines to stay abreast of AI developments. The presentation outlined two complementary approaches to faculty development: a foundational path geared toward AI majors and a user-centric perspective focused on generative AI tools.

Shao emphasized the importance of equipping faculty with both technical competencies and practical strategies to integrate AI into curricula. The session provided actionable insights on embedding AI literacy across varying course levels, ensuring educators are prepared to guide students in an increasingly AI-driven world.
